It took crews more than three hours Sunday to rescue a 58-year-old woman who fell more than 50 feet while hiking in Madera Canyon.
Crews had to walk the woman out of the canyon because she fell in a remote, rugged area, officials said.
The woman eventually was flown to a hospital in stable condition, said Brian Wilford, a battalion chief with the Green Valley Fire District.
The woman had multiple fractures but was conscious and alert during the rescue, officials said. The fall was reported at 9:30 a.m.
