The ground and air search has been completed with no sign of 62-year-old Ann Pardo, director of life management at Canyon Ranch Tucson, who went missing on Tuesday, authorities said.
The search and rescue effort was called off at about 2 p.m. after deputies reported back that they were confident Pardo wasn't in the half-mile radius search area, said department spokesman Dep. Tom Peine.
Pardo was reported missing from her home in the area of North Craycroft Road and East Center Village Drive Tuesday night, said Chief Dep. Chris Nanos.
"Based on new information we learned this morning, we've stepped up our search efforts," Nanos said.
Southern Arizona Rescue Association assisted in the search, and Pinal County Search and Rescue brought dogs to the area.
Southern Arizona Mounted Search and rescue, Southwest Rescue Dogs Inc. and Sheriff's Department volunteers were also on hand for the search efforts, with about 50 people looking for Pardo in the desert area near her home, Peine said.
"This is a two-pronged investigation," he said. "There's the missing person investigation, which was assisted by the search and rescue efforts."
Now that the ground search is completed and the area ruled out, the investigation returns to detectives only, who have been following and will continue to follow leads in the case, Peine said.
Pardo was last seen by her husband Tuesday at around 8:30 a.m., before he left for an appointment, according to spokesman Dep. Tracy Suitt.
"Her husband didn't see her leave," Suitt said. "But he says it's possible that she might have gone for a walk."
Pardo left her home without her keys or her cell phone.
"Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood and we're ask for anyone with information to please call 911 or 88-CRIME," Nanos said.
Pardo is described as 5'2" weighing about 179 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
